So here’s just a sample of the latest stomach-churning hits by the Trump administration:
EndingTPS for law abiding, taxpaying, hardworking Haitians, deporting them back to Haiti, nevermind that there is a level 4 Do Not Travel advisory for the country and the US Government currently bans commercial flights to Port-au-Prince because of gang violence.
Weighing changing the name USS Doris Miller to Trump: a two-fer - highlighting this administration’s embrace of racism and disrespecting our military men and women who actually serve in order to flatter and pander to a draft-dodging President.
Federally protected Mustangs (I guess their TPS was rescinded as well) are being rounded up and sold for slaughter.
Just a soupçon of the bottomless abhorrent nastiness to which this administration gleefully sinks. We are repelled. How about our duly elected Republican Senators and Representatives? Do they feel the same? Where is their outrage? Where is their opposition? Mr Fitzpatrick? Mr McCormick? Silence. Their reticence shows us they are part of the problem, complicit with the conservative Christian machine that is quietly chugging along behind Trump, with the President conveniently serving as a bloviating, distracting, complacently cruel figurehead.
Yet even if Trump is no longer President, through impeachment, a stroke, falling out of an airport catering truck, whatever, the Project 2025 conservative Christian/ loyalist cadre remains fully operational, intent upon cementing power while systematically taking away our freedoms. They do not suffer from dementia. They are not narcissists. They are focused and intent upon carrying out their totalitarian theocratic plan. That is the threat and the challenge we face. Reclaiming majorities in the House and Senate is just the first step. Know that even if Trump is removed, the Conservative Christian cancer remains. So buckle up. Step one: VOTE. Next? Stay the course. Winning in November is just the beginning of a very long haul to purge this administration and to get our country and our democracy back.
