On March 5, disgruntled Donald Trump, having thrown us into this Iran conflict, said he is unhappy because Iran’s choice of Mojtaba Khamenei as the next Supreme Leader “is unacceptable to me.” Oh, gee, that’s too bad, and how typical that this undeclared war that you have thrown us into - for no coherent, consistent, legitimate reason, with no exit strategy - that has already cost mega billions, American lives and hundreds wounded - is all about what’s unacceptable to you? How about what’s unacceptable to us? The American people, the 56% who disapprove of this? The MAGA dupes who bought your campaign lies of America First, about no wars? Hold my chardonnay. I’ll tell you what’s unacceptable to us. It’s slashing SNAP benefits. It’s eviscerating support for affordable health care. It’s cutting Medicaid. It’s Hegseth’s $93 million dollar spending spree, the $100,000 Steinway grand piano, the crab and lobster dinners, while Republicans begrudge a family using benefits to buy a birthday cake for their child. It’s the SAVE act, intended to disenfranchise women voters. It’s you threatening not to sign any bills until it’s approved. It’s Republican Senators who vote blindly for Trump legislation without even reading the fine, much less the large print of what’s in the legislation. It’s ICE everywhere. It’s Tommy Tuberville and Andy Ogles posting Islamophobic messages and the fact that NOT ONE Republican has pushed back on their vile rhetoric. It’s treating the war in Iran like it’s some kind of video game. There is no reset button. Americans have died. They stay dead. It’s telling us to “suffer for one month” with spiralling gas prices and the ensuing inflation. It’s deploying 2500 marines to the Strait of Hormuz. How is that acceptable? Was that the plan? Or are you just winging it? Either way, this aimless, stupid, stupid mess you are making, this uncalled for, unnecessary war, against both the American people and Iran, is unacceptable to us. So excuuuuse me if I scoff at your spoiled-brat-surprised-that-they-punched-back cavil at a new Supreme Leader that you don’t like. Too bad, because you started this. It’s your fault. And we get to suffer the consequences. And that is unacceptable. Where’s my chardonnay? Better yet, bring the whole case.
