As the NBA and NHL hold their playoff contests (with no Philly team anywhere, alas) let’s not forget the latest world playoff contests where Trump is 0 for 3. Canada, Australia and now the College of Cardinals. (at last, Philly…well, Villanova). It’s going to be fun watching how Trump fares when compared to fellow American Pope Leo. The contrasts are stark and damning. Trump’s conservative religious supporters (and thus Trump) reject Jesus’ teachings, calling them weak and woke. Pope Leo has called for the spreading of the Gospel - which includes the Sermon on the Mount. Trump is anti DEI. Leo says God loves all of us without any limits or conditions. Trump listens to Laura Loomer. Leo would make the church more inclusive, a church that looks out for the “least and rejected.” Trump wants a country founded on rejection - of the poor, of immigrants, of veterans, of science, of compassion and empathy. Leo’s ascendancy is the latest indication that Trump is out of step and out of touch with the rest of the world. 0 for 3. We can do this. Canada, Australia, and the College of Cardinals. May 20 is coming. Time to be 0 for 4. Because this is about all of us. Democrat judges are on the ballot and Musk may be sniffing around. All the more reason to resist, to protest, to VOTE. May 20.
