Dear Senator John Fetterman,
We need to talk. We, as in the 2,751,012 Pennsylvanians who voted you into office in 2023. We voted for a progressive Democrat, and instead, we have - you. You promoted your book where you speak of your troubles with severe depression after your stroke. You have a heart condition that led to a fall (face plant) that led to hospitalization. We sympathize and we wish you well. But you are not okay. And your change from progressive Democrat to Republican collaborator/apologist is not okay for Pennsylvania. Abetting the Republican majority and president is not okay for our country. For your own health and for the health of our imperiled democracy we urge you to pass the baton, fold your cards, RESIGN. We can’t have a supposed “Democrat” who, in October, voted against a War Powers Resolution to curb Trump’s Caribbean warfare, thus giving Trump carte blanche to continue his extrajudicial bombings of random fishing boats, acts described by Republican Senator Rand Paul as “despicable and thoughtless” that “glorify killing someone without a trial.” But you’re on board with that. We can’t have someone who proudly voted fifteen times with Republicans to end the government shutdown, constantly undermining Democrats’ attempts to assure affordable health care (your health care’s pretty nice, it must be noted), saying the shutdown was “a failure.” You are not helping your constituents. You do more harm than good to yourself and to us. For all our sakes, take a good look at that battered face in the mirror, take stock, do what’s best for you, your family, for us: resign. Let another take the baton and fight for what’s right, because right now what you are doing to us is all wrong.
