We are not going back

Kamala Harris’ signature “We are not going back”  was almost a throwaway line in Harris’ presidential campaign launch, but it landed with its audience, resonating especially with women.  Because women knew what was at stake, recognizing that this was also a warning. Trump and his Project 2025 handlers countered in August at a rally in Atlanta, with (ironically) Marjory Taylor Greene promising Trump would “take America back.” Kamala’s warning went unheeded and MTG’s exhortation has come to pass.  Women have come a long way, baby, and the Conservative Republican Project 2025-ers don’t like it, not one bit. So Trump is indeed taking America back, back to the past, back to times when women’s rights and freedoms were circumscribed.  Back to fossil fuels, back to no vaccines. Back to no women in the military, back to no right to choose, no personal autonomy, back to no right to vote, back to the kitchen bee-atches!! Trump’s praise of the US men’s ice hockey team and  his sexist dismissal of the US women’s gold medal win is just the latest example of Trump & Co.’s underlying fear and disdain for women and their accomplishments.  It comes on the heels of ICE’s murder of Rene Good and conservative commentator Erik Erickson saying Good was “an AWFUL (affluent white female urban liberal)” and Orlando radio host Pierce Outlaw calling such women “the scourge of polite society.” The attack on women’s rights  continues with Trump’s SAVE act, which would put up roadblocks to make it much harder for women to vote. Misogyny and chauvinism are alive and well in this administration. Sadly,  we’re used to it. From Trump’s calling Hillary a “nasty woman” in 2016 to  Erickson’s AWFUL acronym today,  we’ve heard it all.  Sorry bruhs, the genie is out of the bottle. It's time to get with the program, move over,  share the limelight, or get out of the way. We  will not be polite, we will not give up, and we are not going back.
