86

It is mind boggling that the Trump administration chooses to hyperventilate about the “86-47”   seashell image that former FBI Director James Comey posted in May, 2025, - posted  and then deleted - a year ago - now deeming it pernicious enough to merit a federal indictment. The manufactured outrage and dubious indictment have nothing to do with a threat to the president and everything to do with creating yet another distraction from plummeting approval ratings and an administration hell-bent on its own efforts to 86 our democracy.  The Department of Justice has 86-ed its impartiality and independence, becoming a Trump tool.   Congress has 86-ed its Constitutional  responsibilities, its power of the purse, its power to declare war (or to just say no), its willingness to stand up to Trump. The Roberts Supreme Court in the Callais ruling 86-ed the Voting Rights Act, green-lighting partisan Republican red state redistricting, without voters’ say. The Virginia Supreme Court 86-ed the voice of the people, overturning the results of a state redistricting referendum favoring Democrats.  These acts to silence critics and to disenfranchise dissenting voices are brazen, but not as brazen as the risible golden calf - er -  “Don Colossus” Trump statue at Trump’s Doral golf course. (in Exodus, it did not go well for those who followed a false idol, just sayin’) The more Trump sells himself as a (false) idol, and his henchmen find ways to 86 our Constitutional guarantees  - our laws, our right to vote, our right to free speech - the more we will fight back. Their acts are signs of desperation and weakness. We must find  an endless well of  resistance to ensure that  Trump’s ascendency runs out. We will protest. We will vote.  It’s our democracy and no one will 86 our determination to take  it back.
