It’s interesting to see Republicans embracing the practice of reduce, reuse, recycle. As a party that is out of ideas, the best they can do is go to their trash pile out back and see what tired rhetoric they can dig up and throw in our faces.
Recycle: “COVID” Senator Rand Paul and his vendetta against Dr Anthony Fauci, unearthing and recycling old grievances from the COVID pandemic from six years ago, then holding the good doctor in contempt of Congress for exercising his constitutional right to plead the fifth.
Reuse: “COMMUNIST” Trump is desperately slinging the term against any successful Democrat who is actually addressing the issues most important to voters; the economy, election integrity, the economy, the war in Iran, the economy.
Reduce: “AFFORDABILITY” and cost of living concerns are little more than a “con job” a “hoax” and a “fake narrative.” Nothing to see here.
Reuse: ‘TODD BLANCHE’ Trump’s former personal lawyer, just confirmed as the next Attorney General.
Recycle: “GRIEVANCES” Blanche will continue to pursue old grudges against Trump’s perceived enemies.
Reduce: POWER of Congress as Senator John Cornyn stated, “There’s nothing we can do to rein in the President.”
The hell there isn’t. Cornyn’s surrender is the Democrat’s call to action. He and his fellow Republicans have given up, abdicating their sworn obligation to the Constitution and to the American people, cravenly sacrificed at the feet of Trump. Republicans would like us to give up, too. The hell we will. There has rarely been a better time for Democrats to take advantage of a flailing party in power, and yet we are at risk of squandering this opportunity. Yes, there are now several hues of Democrats in this “Big Tent” party; socialists, progressives, centrists and the old guard. All have varying ideas and priorities. And there are those who would recycle and reuse old divide and conquer tactics to set us against each other, to weaken us as a party. We cannot let that happen; all of us must take a broader view and find ways we can unite with one another against dangerously impotent Republican politicians and an increasingly unhinged and un-reined-in president. No matter who our candidates are, no matter where on the Democratic party continuum they fall, we must come together to promote, to support and to sell their candidacies to the voters. We must give voters a reason to go to the polls and VOTE DEMOCRAT - no matter what shade of blue - by the thousands. So it’s not even close. Republicans have given up. That’s our cue. Give up? The hell we will.
