This is not a joke

In July 2024, candidate Trump spoke at an event organized by Turning Point Action, saying, “in four years, you don’t have to vote again.” and “four more years…it will be fixed, you won’t have to vote anymore.” If that wasn’t clear enough, fast forward to now. Trump’s in trouble, a cornered animal;  nobody wants Greenland, there are increasing protests against his ICE goon overreach, a federal judge has ordered federal agents to stop retaliating against peaceful protesters, and Trump is doubling down. He is telling Republicans “you got to win the

midterms”   and, more darkly, saying, “a lot of times you can’t convince a voter.”  “When you think of it, we shouldn’t even have an election.” Trump’s press secretary, Karoline Leavett, tried to say Trump was “joking.” This is no joke. In July, Trump was testing the waters. Now Trump is laying the groundwork. This was always the plan. But what is more disturbing (if that can be) is the silence of our political representatives. Messrs Fitzpatrick, Fetterman and McCormick, do you have any thoughts? Any response? Any worry about this blatant disregard of the Constitution, for we the people? When you took office, you all took an oath swearing to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” You did not swear (or affirm) an oath to protect Trump from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Yet, Messrs McCormick, Fitzpatrick, Fetterman, Fetterman, Fitzpatrick, McCormick, your names run together and your utter silence speaks volumes. There is no help coming from your quarter. We are on our own. Leavett tries to brush this off as Trump being  “facetious.” You, Messrs Fitzpatrick, McCormick and Fetterman, are mum. Pity. That’s okay, oh Messrs of uselessness, we are not deaf, we are not blind, and we will not be silent.  We’ll just take it from here.
