That is the question. The Epstein files debacle just won’t go away, and the more Trump shrilly demeans, deflects and distracts to get out from under, the more it looks like there is indeed something to hide. So what’s an increasingly on the ropes President to do? Have House Leader Mike Johnson dismiss the House a week early for their summer vacay to avoid a floor vote to release the files. Flee to Scotland ostensibly to meet with PM Keir Starmer, but really to hide on his golf courses. Send former personal lawyer and current deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche to Tallahassee to interview Epstein’s cohort Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving 20 years in jail for sex trafficking (in a plea deal that dropped charges of perjury) while dangling the idea of a pardon - thus immediately undermining any possibility of credibility for anything Maxwell might have to say. The House Republicans and Trump are running away, hoping this will all die down, blow over, disappear. It won’t. This chink in Trump’s MAGA armor is a serendipitous opportunity for Democrats. He’s on the list. They know it. It’s our turn to sow discord. As the Republicans flee, we can stand our ground, and keep up the pressure, the noise, the fervor, the clamor, the justice, the retribution. Let’s turn the tables. Let’s do this.
