One begins to smell the desperation in the air as Trump scrambles these last few weeks. His lowest approval rating, down to 40%, the Epstein files, and now the latest jobs reports from Erika McEntarfer for the Bureau of Labor Statistics relaying data that indicated there were fewer jobs added in July than anticipated and revised the May and June numbers downward. What many economists have been warning, coming to fruition. Trump’s reaction? Like the Queen of Hearts: “Off with her head!” Trump fired the messenger claiming that the figures presented were manipulated by “a Biden appointee” (McEntarfer was confirmed by the Senate 86-8 in 2024) and “today’s Jobs Numbers were RIGGED in order to make…ME look bad.” Actually, “ME” is looking bad all on his own, no help needed. Trump’s attempts to silence, suppress, distract and dodge the facts are not working. The numbers are the numbers. Firing the messenger doesn’t change the message. His claim of manipulation is patent manipulation, with no credibility. Trump is flailing and failing. He knows it. We know it. That is the message. We need to spread it far and wide, loud and clear, no manipulation, no rigging necessary.
