An unusual September nor’easter is churning up the Atlantic coast, the governors of New Jersey and New York have declared states of emergency, and Trump - is at a college football game in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Volunteers are playing Texas and their all-bro QB Arch Manning. In honor of Trump’s taxpayer funded gridiron escapist jaunt, I offer two football cheers. “Push ‘em back. Shove ‘em back. Way back!” for Team Trump and “You gotta want it to win it, and we want it more!” for Team Blue. The Trump team game plan (brought you by the coaches at Project 2025) seeks to shove our democracy way back, to roll back hard-won rights and freedoms while alienating allies, carrying out cruel and indiscriminate arrests and deportations of immigrants, starting a war, and then scoffing at the hardships of the resultant rising cost of living at home for us regular folk. It is little wonder that the Trump approval ratings are plummeting and the audience is booing. Suddenly Trump is playing defense, and playing foul. First he urged us to vote like he is on the ballot. Now he’s resorting to banning news outlets from the White House and Air Force One, starting Trump TV and creating pro-Trump “public service” ads, airing on Fox and Newsmax, urging voters to “defeat Communism” ( the three-day red-carpet visit by Communist China’s president Xi Jinping notwithstanding), ads which are “paid for by the US government” aka paid for with our tax dollars ($443,000 thus far). Yellow flags are littering the field. It’s time for a two-year penalty and a change of possession.
Okay, team, we got this. It’s the fourth quarter - and the mid-term election is on the line. Time for Team Blue to go on offense. We have barely a month before November 3 and the clock is ticking. Time for us to push Trump back. We gotta want it to win it and WE WANT IT MORE. Circle up! Hands in together! Everybody on one, “VOTE!”
